We the stereotype'd' !...time to change.

This article or my write up is an open discussion laid before both "today's" parents and youth.Well, we have seen that in our Asian culture, more specifically Indian Culture, majority of the families want their kid to get the best of education and and in his early twenty's land up in a job of 'their' choice.

What parents forget here is that likes and passions of every individual need not be same. Though they claim to be their bio-logical parents(claim-most of them are!) does not mean that their kid should inherit the same likes and passions that they behold. There would be many questions that an individual may confront at his late teens or early twenty's. Some of them be like-

What makes them so overbearing and watchful?

Why are they not ready to let teenies change course from their traditionally laid down trails?

Why they are so obsessed with their own format of living life and thinking pattern?

Why only education in form of written and oral tests are given primary importance even when the kid might not have a distinct liking towards it?

Aren't there any other ways a child can make his career?

Should be we ''Trained'' to achieve the pre-decided goals or should we be given an opportunity to lay our own?

Why working in McDonald's or any other retail outlet while pursuing your professional studies is looked down?

Why do they want us to think about the society all the time..be it with respect to our social circle, profession, our activities, our hobbies,love,marriage...!!?

Life at home sucks for you, and you can't wait until you can get out of the house. But is that always possible! As shown in films..the hero gets his backpack..a set of lenses and his pro cam and stays separately..turns out to be a good photographer and Whooow!!His life is set!

We see him doing it and we think we too can! But then there's are difference in Reel life and Real life. However, i don't deny the fact that many a times, if we take a right call, we might have the privilege of being heroes of our own life! Again, taking a call is dependent on several factors.Major ruling factors are our parents and 'their' society..and their values and their morals and their upbringing...and their preachings..and their care..and their love..and their expectations..and our mamis..mamas..uncles..aunts..grandpas/mas...!! WHERE ARE WE?

I had read an article sometime back. Sharing an excerpt:

Parental Tactics Of Coercion
The study delves deep into the effects of parental use of psychological control towards their teenage child. This psychological control was seen to incorporate tactics, such as inducing feelings of guilt in the child when he/ she did something that the parents thought was wrong, temporary withdrawal of love as a punishment tool and trying to foster anxiety within the child, in addition to other psychologically manipulative tactics aimed at getting desired behaviors from kids.

The research team felt that while these tactics would ensure a particular behavior from the child, by pressuring him into a decision that's in line with his parents' will, in the long haul, it would only reduce his ability to make his own judgments. So, even though parents tend to be happy when the child toes the line, what they fail to realize is that they may have just killed an opportunity to help the child learn, practicing self-direction and independent decision making. In future, this could make the child an easy target for coercion and manipulation.

By sharing this article i don't mean to demean Indian culture or the societal morals and ethics. But here i wish to focus on 'Law of Individuality' which clearly states that every individual is different when compared to other. This law will solve majority of problems if understood properly.
Often in the context of 'Independent Thinking' we forget that 'Independent' doesn't mean 'Self' or 'Selfish' or 'Self Centered Thinking or Self oriented Approach'. What it actually means is considering all the other factors and situations around how one should perceive, how one should reciprocate and how to take controlled measures!

A simple example would be when in a relation partners experience a downfall or loss of interest there could be multiple reasons associated with it.But during those times we only keep our own self in the center and keep thinking of all the things that have affected us! Here we tend to ignore our faults and we get more defensive in our approach.Sometimes we simply deny our responsibility towards our partner. When asked for the reasons we tend to use word 'ME' or 'I' forgetting that relation is all about 'US', 'WE'..One partner though is ready to sort all the things the other is reluctant saying that all wrongs have had a major impact on there life forgetting that impact is felt both ways. And then they wish to think 'Independently'. Here's the entire mess... 'cz in such situations independent thinking often gets restricted to one self. The thought process gets so self oriented and self centric that all negativeness get into your mind. You start seeing and assuming things which actually might be very different than what you perceived. In simple terms in such cases 'Independent Thinking = Thinking about your own self'. This is mostly the reason for break up stories.

If u ask me..every problem in this world can be sorted with communication. This is where most of the people get confused. Self respect, Pride and Ego are the main tools that make you lose a relation even where both the partners are aware of their love for each other.

We need to change our mindset. We need to understand that society plays an important role because that's the one who help us maintain our civilized status. If every single individual forgets what is actually meant by freedom and independentness then we might not be civilians in the making rather we might turn in to wild animals wandering down the streets. Stereotyped thinking must be stropped. Independent decision is must but thinking independently from all the sides and angles, by a different perspective, thinking into depth of why things are the way they are..and then coming to a rational solution is how the flow should be. Imposing decisions is wrong but the decision already taken is that really apt..!! that's what is to be thought off. Taking help and getting opinions from friends, elders and well wishers is always a welcome move. However, your mind should be open enough to also listen to the mistakes or criticisms that you get.We love listening when others tell us how right you are and dislike when we are shown the dark side of us. This is where we need to understand that 'an err is to human' and if we keep denying our mistakes and do not change the course of our action we are the ones who are putting every life at stake including our own!

Whether one has to work with McD's as a steward/captain while pursuing his education should be thought of from all the angles. Is it really required for him to work? Does that add value to his persona or his skills? how will this job benefit? How will he concentrate on his studies? Has he planned for the future? Where does he see himself after 3-4 years? Will this give him a sense of responsibility? and many more thoughts and questions will get answered if you try to find solutions rather than thinking "Why should my son/daughter work as a waiter in some food joint?". We have to get out of our own drawn peripheries and the ideologies that we tend to follow since ages. We need to broaden our outlook and start seeing world from a different perspective. Most Indians, however qualified they might be, still prefer 9-5 job rather than taking a different approach or thinking about being an Entrepreneur or having a own set up. A qualified engineer thinks that hes only good at engineering because his mindset is groomed in such a fashion that he finds it difficult to even think that he can or has an ability to put up his own business!! A Chartered Accountant should either teach, practice or land up in a job is what the trend says! Why cant he have his chain of hotels? Why can he float his own company? Why cant he be an entrepreneur? Why cant he be a dancer or singer!!!!! But we never feed our mind or look at things with different perspective! And when we do think differently all we think is of all the hurdles that we can face while stepping into a different venture and we stop there without even giving a second thought to all the solutions that lay ahead of us..all we require is to take one step ahead !!

AIB Roast is considered vulgar and political parties made a cry of it..! Did anybody even bother when parliamentary members were caught red handed watching porn inside the holy place of decision making for the country!! Does anybody even bother when our country is run by a bunch of politicians where majority of them don't even hold a basic qualification! But we have time to argue on a show that clearly had a adult certification. We have time to burn down shops selling Valentines Cards..carrying boards and hoardings in English..we have time to argue whether its 'Bombay' or 'Mumbai'..we changed the names but majority of articles and sections in Constitution of India still are adapted from British Law. We have time to argue on whether Sunny Leone is changing the face of Indian Cinema by making it more porno than acting! But nobody talks of increasing rapes and moral blindness of our Society...and there are many more such incidences. Again a play of narrow mindset and not being receptive where its required. People objecting feel that they have taken a matured step. Well, even Einstein or any great scholar hasnt yet defined what maturity is!

To conclude all i will say is we as a individual and as a team should make effort to look at things and situations with different perspective. When we will broaden horizons only then we will be receptive towards others ideas and thinking patterns. We will only then understand the purpose of their act, the words said, decisions taken and effort made. Think Independently without turning a blind eye and a deaf ear on others thoughts, ideas, emotions and the facts.Harmony and peace only then can be obtained.

Heart Jus Dont Listen ! !

Sometimes this heart just won’t listen.
It still beats for, who ain’t yet mine.
But why blame heart,
Loving someone is not a crime!!

I want no mercy even if it is so...
But plz don’t ask me not to luv ya more!!

I am not begging ya to love me...
I’m not really even asking you.
But, isn’t it alright
if I cherish that hope in my heart?
Can’t I dream to hold you?
And consider u as my part..?

They say...
Loving some one ain’t a crime!!
I want no mercy even if it is so...
But plz don’t ask me not to luv you!

I will try to keep my eyes from shining
When they see you...
I will try not to be bemused
When u look at me...
And I promise...
I will try not to be elated
When u talk to me...
But plz, don’t ask me not to luv ya.

Sometimes this heart just won’t listen.
It still beats for, who ain’t yet mine.
But why blame heart,
Loving someone ain’t a crime!!
I want no mercy even if it is so...
But plz don’t ask me not to luv ya more!!

'LANGUAGE' of MUTES !!

One morning misty n fresh..
Down the streets ..
i was taking a walk.
Music buds kept playing...
As i had no one else to talk.

One-half a mile then..
Searched for a resting den..
Yes! Thr was a bench
on the peddlers path.
Rushed to it..
Before anyone could grab my part.
But i missed it..
As it got occupied by couple
Who seemed never to go apart!

The boy had a rose..
Which he hid frm her..
And there she was ..
In a curious state and
Made some enquiring gestures!
Boy swayed his hands and
Twisted and turned  his fingers..
Of-course! A reply by gesture!

He then went on his knees
And offered her the flower !!
Stunned was she..
But joy in her eyes unmatched!
No words they had but signs..
He thn placed her hand on his heart.
Tears of joy rolled down her face..
Within no time..and with no words
Both were each others world!!!

I witnessed ths all..
The purity of mutes!
Blessed are we.. or they..??
Left me thinking!
And i learned a lesson..tat
"To spread love ..
let LANGUAGE be not a barrier..
'Cz they too can and spread love..
Who 'talk' language of mutes!!!"

PuzZLeD !!?

Sometimes life is a puzzle,
Sometimes evething appears mazy,
Which makes be go crazy..
Thngs never thought
Will always sprout..
Leaving me in a doubt.

You wanna fall in love
But with a girl
Like a 'white dove'..
None like tat would you eve' find
Even if you keep your eyes on grind..
'cz Doves ain't jus beautiful but also
Stand for symbol of 'peace'..
Which can't be borrowed or leased.

I go right
..she goes left
Ask her to take ur way..!
And she says, 'in our relation..
Thrs nothn LEFT.. :( '
Demands are many..
But my supply falls short..
Prices keep soaring..
But still they shop..
Till everything appears boring..

When I was small
I learnt 'petter patter'..
Don't kno how girls learn to
'chitter chattar'..
Ask thm to stop  >_<
And there U start hearing
Things clatter!!!

Don't kno if m a fool
To still love her..
But whateve I say..
Lifes incomplete without her. <3:D

Eco Festivals:urgent call !!

Global warming is often referred as the gradual increase in the earths surface temperature. Its popular definition also says it is the warming caused by human activities. In technical term its known as 'Anthropogenic Global Warming'.
The common debate is whether the observed global warming is natural or man made!. Well..well..i don't intend showcase any extra gyan here using technical terms but my humble intent is to reach to those reading my blog to take some initiatives in whatever ways possible to take care of nature.
It was Holi, known as Festivals of colors, few days back. And i just happened to come across some facts when i was surfing.Immediately thought of sharing with everyone.I would like to add that i am not against any religious practices but i wont even stand for one causing environmental damage and would also try my best to prevent or reduce those from happening or atleast find some other substitute for same.

  • How Holi bonfire can be anti-environmental?And what are the ways to overcome the problem?

The burning of fuel wood to create the bonfire for Holika Dahan presents serious environmental problem. According to a news article, studies done in the State reveal that each bonfire uses around 100 kg of wood, and considering that approximately 30,000 bonfires are lit in the state just for one season, this leads to a wastage of a staggering amount of wood. For certain communities like Fishermen community Holi is a very important festival which is celebrated for about 5 days. During this each group burns one tree (Mangrove species or Palm Species) for Holika Dhahan each day. All these traditions require a thought for celebration in a way not to harm environment. Ideally, the joyous festival of Holi is meant to celebrate the arrival of spring while the colors used in Holi are to reflect of the various hues of spring season. But unfortunately, in modern times Holi does not stand for all things beautiful. Like various other festivals, Holi too has become ruthlessly commercialized, boisterous and yet another source of environmental degradation. Environmental impacts associated with the holi festival are listed below.

  • Burning of wood and other combustible material creates air pollution problems.
  • Cutting of trees leads to loss of biodiversity.
  • Colours produced from chemicals are toxic and can result in anything from skin allergies to cancer, eye irritation, dermatitis respiratory problems to blindness... and much more.
  • They do not wash away easily, get mixed in drains and sewage systems and pollute water bodies and the soil.

Composition of a Few Holi Colours:

Chemical ColourCompositionHealth Effects
BlackLead OxideRenal Failure, Learning disability
GreenCopper SulphateEye Allergy, Temporary blindness
PurpleChromium iodideBronchial asthma, Allergies
SilverAluminium BromideCarcinogenic
RedMercury SulphiteSkin cancer, Minamata disease (mental retardation, paralysis, impaired vision...)

Celebrate Holi / Rangapanchami in an Eco-friendly manner:

To avoid environmental deterioration due to Holi / Rangapanchami some things should be taken into account while celebrating it.

  • Do not cut green trees to burn in fire/ Holi.
  • Collect dead wood and leaves for burning
  • Bonfire would be of small in size.
  • Organize one symbolic community fire, rather than several smaller bonfires across the city as a way to reduce pollution and deforestation.
  • Use combustible waste material rather than wood like coconut coir, saw dust, or agricultural waste like dry grass, wheat straw etc.
  • Celebrate holi as a Dry Holi to avoid wastage of water.
  • To make aware people about environmental impacts of celebrating holi by traditional way and encourage people to celebrate it in an Eco friendly manner.
  • Avoid use of chemically produced colour powders and pastes to prevent health hazard & environmental degradation.
  • The safest alternative is the herbal dye.
  • These dyes have turmeric and other floral and herbal extracts that act as anti-oxidants and are ultimately beneficial to the skin.
  • Also, these are eco-friendly and do not harm the environment.
  • Further, this herbal colour does not cause any irritation, skin allergies, respiratory problems or damage to your vital organs.
  • When these colours are mixed with the soil and water they do not add toxicity to them, therefore it doesn’t harm the myriad life forms that live in the soil and water.
  • By this we can bring back in large quantities the diverse plants and trees that give us these colours.
  • In the Holi fire, all kinds of material other than the organic ones and those that cause harm, such as plastics, tyre tubes should be avoided as it gives rise to air pollution.
  • To teach children in schools preparation of their own Holi colors from natural and safe ingredients like beetroot, rose petals, flowers, spinach and turmeric.

Awareness is important but just being aware and not taking action or initiatives is not going to help.So lets come together and celebrate festivals in such a way that it doesn't jeopardize either our posterity nor our mother nature.Eco festivals are the need of the day.Lets not blindfold our eyes under the pretext of beliefs and  religious practices. Its time to wake up and make a urgent call!

A JoUrNeY....-to RAjasThaN ! !

Disclaimer:This write up contains imaginitive aspects too.In no way writer has a intention to hurt peoples sentiments. Its purely a collection of xperience, ideas n imagination, fun and humour.
*Pics for representational purpose only.

A journey..to Rajasthan !
Call me on a trip..and i'm always available.U see m a travel freak..This time i got an opportunity to trip rajasthan.I was attending my friends wedding..actualy friends brothers wedding!!Tried to ink down my experience..
Start of Journey-
Generally travelling by train alone, that too for long journeys, make me feel sick. However, if u'v bunch of mates along..then the fun remains unmatched.Neverthless to say, train journey is the most cheapest and convenient. We rushed in as it arrived..as usual till you find your reserved seats and place your luggage over the hooks, under chairs, above berths thats reserved for you; u never breath a sigh of relief. We were no exception.
My destination was 'Rani'. By name every guy will think of a gurl and now would be much eager to read...rit!! :) but sorry to disappoint you guys..Rani is a station in Rajasthan where we would be unbaording ourselves. It takes almost 15 hours to reach Rani from Mumbai. It was month of February..and was quite awesome with  regards to climate...not much sun and slight cold..wow!

Next day morning 5:30am,Jagdeesh(jaggs) woke me up..m not an insomniac,i sleep hard.Rubbed my eyes and had a cupa tea.Quite relieving. Next thing i did was to analayize..calculate..formulate and conclude...HOW MUCH TIME WOULD IT TAKE TO ENTER LOO..!!. 'Coz as i saw thr were 3-4 people in a queue outside. Few holding their asses..which was a clear implication tat i cudn't  stand a chance to go in first..even when i would have offered thousand bugs. Maann!! i just felt like pulling chain to stop train..jump outside and search for a bush...hehe :). But ideas dont always work.No other option but to hold on..i tried to make some sympathy and pity earning faces to them..but all my efforts were in  vain! Finally it was my number..before rushing i assured that thrs no gurl looking by my side..hehe..cum'n guys u understan rit!! and i rushed...
Now another trouble was to get grip..train was constantly trembling. I feared of falling on my face.Yuukksss!!! Somehow managed and winded up as soon as possible.Ahh!atlast i was out of a dungeon..i felt as if i'v won a battle.
Two men, standing out, looked to each other when i came out with a smile on my face.Least did they knew about my battle!
We were about to reach Rani in a while.Till thn we fueled our tummys.Had some tea, some idlis, some samosas..some sandwhiches..all of some made a huge 'Sum'..both in  quantity and price.

Finally we reached 'Raoni',thats how people here pronounce it.Bolero with its chauffer awaited to pick us up.Being a special guest in terms of being non rajasthani or rather non marwadi, still coming to rajasthan to attend a marvadi wedding,i was given front seat.Royal Welcome!!
And we started.Whether was cool, calm n misty at 7:30am. We were heading towards juggys abode situated in village named 'Channod'. On our way, all i could remember noticing are yellow-green lushy fields, clear skies and pollution free environment. What enthralled me more was sight of peacocks on both the sides of Kuccha turned Pucca roads. That was awesome!!
Roads were heavily fogged but the drive was fun. Driver 'Khemji' as people adressed him was more funnier. Not a single moment passed in boredom when  we were  in his company. He kept talking in mumbai accent..which neither he or us could properly understand. But his accent surely made our ribs tickle.

When we reached home,it was almost 1100hrs and whether still cool. I enjoyed this climate. We freshened up,had some breakfast kinda thing and slept..only thing i remember for that day was i slept n slept.
Day 2 started with full throttle.Morning i got up and searched for the most basic thing that all social animals do...do i needa specify!!!! :) Loo was outside the house adjacent to it. Never mind,it was much better than 'wadas'(place where people go in groups to relax their stomaches)..see, even it has got a definition. I heard juggy telling me to get a bucket filled with water as i was approaching towards loo.
Ohh! man! I imagined myself drapped in a piece of towel, a lotta(bucket) in one hand and other kept free to knock door outa frustration..dont ask me What kinda frustration??-you will understand this wen ur in hurry and some one is taking too long.
Juggy tapped my shoulders bringing me outa my weird imaginations and pointed towards something which looked like water tank but was situated underground.Yes,it was indeed one. As i observed, every house had a seperate water reserviour in form of underground storage tank just outside  ther house. It resembled to a mini well..16-18 feet deep.I filled up the bucket..
Well it was jus like i imagined- only difference was.. I was in jeans, had lotta in one hand and a stick in other..Now dont let ur wild imagination run...stick was meant to be for my safety, incase i cum across lizards n cockroaches. Another battle!! Ohh Gawd!.

Afternoon.. everyone was ready and fresh and Hungry too.Kailash bhai(to be bridegroom n juggys bro) summoned us for lunch. He arranged for a plate big enough to serve 4 people.I kept wondering!
I went to Pista aunty(juggys mum) and asked for another small plate. And all kitchen ladies burst out in laughter. I was all in question marks and even those ladies noticed a exclamation hanging above my head. All they said was, "You'll understand." That wasnt hard enough to guess that we are gonna share a plate. Its called 'THALI'. We occupied our seats, Kailsh bhai, juggy and me shared 1 thali. Kailsh bhai served 12 rotis. Pista aunty gave each one of us bowl filled with Special rajasthani Dal.No body started to have their share..so even i kept looking at my meal. Pista aunty bought a plate full of salads, another of papads and one with Sev. "Wow!!This is gona be a feast" i murmered. Before i could make a start, again Pista aunty appeared with a glass filled with something. I wondered if she was the 'Godess of Food' last birth. But why only one glass of water..?!Are we going to share a glass too!! and i entered my imaginary trans..
'it seemed as if we three are married to each other and this was our first night. And as per the tradition we shud take a sip from the glass and let our partner have it too.We shud feed each other and then lift ghungat..'
NO!! NO!! Stop! and i controlled imagining further.I realised,my thoughts could reach any  heights. :)
He instantly poured the entire liquid on rotis. It was Ghee. And i concluded,Pista aunty was Ghee Godesses. He emptied the glass and our haf the plate was filled with ghee. He then poured Dal over it..put some shev on it and put some chopped onions and chatni. Then churned the entire mixture and told us to follow. It was quite a fun! I took my 1st bite and it tasted really good. The mixture was quite tasty.Neverthless to say,I enjoyed the meal. Then what...i slept like a lethargic snake!!

Next day was 'THE DAY'..day when Kailash bhai was to lose his bachelor hood, his peace in life, his freedom.. it was 'The Marriage Day'..not tat  i am anti-marriage or so..but idea of getting married is not well conceived by me yet.And the things and remarks i made was listening to married peoples, usually men, views post marriages.Everyone was busy making themselves look good..needless to mention, mostly girls; and men were busy handling responsibilities. I was semi traditionally dressed,jeans-shirt and rajasthani pagdi on my head.
Marvadis have a tradition where the bridegroom has to sit on horse and has to take a round of entire village.Other family members will follow. It was a procession carried out to make entire village know about his marriage. They call it ''BANDOLI''.We all danced to the music played and traditional songs sung by people there.Even family ladies performed traditional steps.
After bandoli, it was 'BARAT PRASTAN' time. This simply means tat bridegroom has to go to brides family and initiate marriage. After reaching at brides place there were many other rasams that took place.I tried to take note of every rasam being performed. There were rasmas like TORAN...VARMALA..HAST-MILAP ..MANGAL PARINAY  etc.(end of thinking capacity..hehe).Well every rasam has its own meaning and importance but i am a novice to explain everything. And Ofcourse!!how can i miss describing lunch!! It was yummy and deliciousss.I surely had a try of pure rajashthani meal for first time.
After the happy wedding thing we took our bhabi to her sasural(in laws). There was lot of tear shedding and emotions overflowing.Seeing them cry i had a small smile on my face.Ironical rit!! Ya..it was 'coz i cud make out that 'jo bhi ladki walon ko rona hai wo bas aaj ke din hi rona hai,fir to ladkaay ki bari hai puri jindagi bhar'. Dont blame me for this statement it was married men whom i had heard saying this!
We then reached to our place and rasam for GRUH PRAVESH were done. Finally a new member to Kailash bhais family was added. All were very happy considering wedding proceedings to have fallen in place and also for newly married couple.

I wanted to stay back for few days more to explore Rajasthan and get drowned in its scenic beauty. But priorities claimed something different.I had my reservations done the next day of wedding.Yes, i indeed enjoyed to be a part of entire ceremony and also was spellbound by the love, warmth and affection bestowed on me by entirely different coloured people. But thats the crux, different colours make a Rainbow and so did we. I actually experienced the ''Atithi Devo Bhava''(Guests are like God).I wanted to thank Pista Aunty, Jagdeesh, Kailash Bhai and Swapna for making me feel special in their own ways. And what could be better way than a write up dedicated to them.So is this article....
